The Santa Barbara Community Youth Performing Arts Center, Inc. is the 501 c 3 non-profit organization which, in partnership with the Santa Barbara High School District, oversees and manages the Marjorie Luke Theatre. We invite individuals, families, businesses, corporations and foundations to join the esteemed list of donors who are making the Marjorie Luke Theatre a reality.

We invite the community to join this effort and contribute in any amount to help make this historic theatre regain and continue its rich legacy serving many generations of young people.

There are many ways to contribute. You may choose to support our Dreier Family Rent Subsidy Fund, sponsor a new seat in the auditorium, or a permanent donor tile in the new Bryan Family Foyer. You may also wish to sponsor a major part of the theatre, from the balcony to a dressing room. The Bryan Family Foyer features a magnificent central donor wall displaying all the major founding donors of the Center.

Donations may be made in the form of a pledge, on a credit card or by sending a check made to the Santa Barbara Community Youth Performing Arts Center and mailed PO Box 21046, Santa Barbara, CA 93121. We deeply appreciate your support.

Santa Barbara Community Youth Performing Arts Center is a non-profit 501(c) (3), tax-exempt corporation. Our Federal Tax ID Number and EIN is 77-0543169. All donations may be utilized by the donors as a tax advantage to the fullest extent allowed by law.

We are deeply indebted to our lead donor – Anthony Edwards and The Bryan Family, for their generous, visionary support. Anthony Edwards’ gift of $600,000 enabled him to name the auditorium. For the naming of the theatre, he chose to honor his former drama teacher at Santa Barbara Junior High School - Marjorie Luke. The foyer is known as the Bryan Family Foyer in recognition of this family’s generosity.

Marjorie Luke and Anthony Edwards

“It may appear that this donation and naming of the Theater is a gift from me. The truth is being able to do this is a tremendous gift to me. I am so honored to have the opportunity to say thank you in such a permanent and appropriate way. Everyone can name the one or two people who had a profound influence on their lives. I am one of thousands of kids who were lucky enough to fall into Marjorie Luke's inspiration. A love and respect for the arts through the magic of the theater is something she taught everyday because she was genuinely committed to the importance of art in education to make a whole human being. I am pleased to announce that this performing arts center will be named in honor of Marjorie Luke. Santa Barbara is a special community where important things like the renovation of this beautiful theater can happen. I'm so happy to know that young people of all diversities will be welcome to explore and participate in the enlightening world of the performing arts.” - Anthony Edwards

Donor/Advisor Joyce Bryan, Jon Bryan and Board Member Todd Jared

“Our children, Ken, Kathleen, Jon and Juliet, were fortunate to have been students at Santa Barbara Junior High School during the years Marjorie Luke was Drama teacher. The whole family benefited from participation in the stage productions. The friendships they made have endured, and the lessons learned went far beyond theater. We are delighted to support the Santa Barbara Community Youth Performing Arts Center. May it bring pleasure to generations of young people and their families.” - Joyce and Roland Bryan - Sponsors of The Bryan Family Foyer

These lead gifts represent private funds by a past student of SBJHS and parents of former students. It is important to note that these generous funds do not drain the pools of existing foundations or the often-tapped sources for arts and other non-profit organizations of Santa Barbara.

THE MARJORIE LUKE THEATRE is funded in part by the COMMUNITY ARTS GRANT PROGRAM and the ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT GRANT PROGRAM using funds provided by the City of Santa Barbara in partnership with the Santa Barbara County Arts Commission.

A key factor in the success of the fund-raising to complete the Marjorie Luke Theatre has been the tremendous support of the local business community. Three extraordinary examples of support include NS Ceramic, Ronchietto, and Evans Hardy + Young.

Nola Stucky of NS Ceramic is widely known as an expert on tile. Her showroom on Ortega Street features an extensive selection of the finest tile and ceramic designs one could ever imagine. Nola was very familiar with the historic landmark tile on the campus of Santa Barbara Junior High School. When she was contacted to help our organization design the tile for the new Bryan Family Foyer, she jumped onboard without hesitation.

Nola has been instrumental in guiding the tile design for the Marjorie Luke Theatre, insuring that the facility will appropriately reflect the Spanish Colonial Revival design of the campus. She has carefully guided and consulted on the tile, color and setting designs for the new foyer and the new kiosk to be located on Cota Street in front of the theatre.

We are most fortunate to have Nola on our team of designers and donors. She has generously contributed all of custom tile for the theatre renovation. Her support is a classic example of exemplary local individuals and businesses committed to seeing this project successfully completed with the highest quality of materials and maintaining architectural heritage of the building.

Gigi Ronchietto and Anastasha Rousso of Ronchietto - a fine antique re-creation company - joined our team when Project Director Rod Lathim gave them a tour of the design and art boards of the Marjorie Luke Theatre. Their beautiful Spanish Colonial Revival furniture collection is inspired by 16th and 17th-century European craftmanship. Their impressive, authentic designs were made for the new Bryan Family Foyer! Gigi and Anasthasha’s studio is located a block from the SBJHS campus and they were very aware of the beauty of the school’s design. They have contributed 4 pieces of custom-made, hand-crafted wood furniture for the Bryan Family Foyer. The finishing touch of this amazing furniture with the custom tile from NS Ceramic makes the Foyer a grand showplace.

Scott Young - a partner in the advertising firm Evans Hardy + Young - was the first business supporter of the Marjorie Luke Theatre. He and his team of designers have created all the promotional literature, our logo and media display pieces since our organization began. Scott and the experts at Evans Hardy + Young have been an enormous help to us in creating a visual image, promoting our project in the media and giving us a professional look as we have introduced this project to the community. Their help has had a strong impact on our fund-raising and our ability to inspire the community’s support.
